Passage:  Ephesians 5:17-21

Big Idea:  Pay attention and yield to the Holy Spirit to become like Christ.

I. Take care to stay on mission. (15-17)
            A. My attitude and conduct must reflect Jesus.
            B. Urgent opportunities await.
            C.  Discover the will of God in the Word of God as you live for God.  (cf. Eph. 5:10; Rom. 12:2; 1 Pet. 2:21)

II. We do this by yielding to the Holy Spirit. (18)
            A. True joy, satisfaction and insight are found in following Christ.
            B. The Spirit indwells, seals and baptizes me at salvation.
            C. I must constantly yield to Him to be filled by Him.

III. The Spirit-controlled life is a transformed life. (19-21)
            A. We speak of Jesus to encourage one another.
            B. We speak and sing of Jesus to honor Him.
            C. We thankfully trust God with every circumstance.
            D. We yield and serve others in reverence to Christ.
