Passage: 1 Samuel 2:12-36

Main Idea: Consider the lovingkindness and holiness of God and honor Him.

I. God deserves my obedient and thankful worship. (12-21)
      A. I deserve to be judged for my sin.
      B. Don’t take the best for yourself.
      C. Keep thanking God who continually sustains us.

II. Disobedience leads to death. (22-26)
      A. Personal sin grows and causes others to be harmed.
      B. Despise sin and desire holiness.
      C. Obedience leads to blessing.

III. God provides a way to be rescued from sin and death. (27-36)
      A. Consider how good God has been in the past.
      B. Consider how God deserves honor now.
      C. Consider the future consequence of ongoing sin.
      D. Consider the faithfulness of God to both punish and forgive.
