Passage:  Genesis 35:1-29

Main Point:  God has provided the Way back, it is time to come home.

I. Remember God’s goodness and be refreshed by grace. (v.1-5)
            A. Jacob’s partial obedience led his family into spiritual decay.
            B. A spiritual leader talks about what God has said and done.
            C. God holds the door open for me to return.

II. Recount God’s promises and be renewed with hope. (6-15)
            A. We gather to celebrate God’s greatest gift, Jesus Christ.
            B. Salvation is a done deal, but I have “room to grow.”
            C. God’s people have always set their sights on the coming of Jesus.

III. Recommit to walking by faith and find rest in God. (20-29)
            A. The birth of Jesus brought both joy and sorrow.
            B. The shame of sin begins with idolatry of “me”.
            C. God’s faithfulness and grace does not depend on me.
