The Lord Is My Shepherd (Psalm 23)

Passage:  Psalm 23

Main Point:  Stay connected to your Shepherd.

I. “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.”
            A. A statement of recognition.  Jesus is my Shepherd.
            B. A statement of personal relationship.
            C. A statement acknowledging the character of my Lord.
            D. A statement proclaiming the complete care that my Shepherd has for me.  (“There is nothing I lack”)

II. My Shepherd guides me. (v 2-3)
           
A. “Green pastures” and quiet waters”.
            B. He restores my whole being.  (See Psalm 19:7).
            C. He leads me in His ways.  (see Proverbs 3:5-6).

III. My Shepherd protects me. (v 4-5a)
            A. Through the valley:  (“shadow of death” is literally “deepest darkness”)
            B. With the rod:  protection/correction.
            C. At the table:  table lands, mesas.

IV. My Shepherd provides for me. (v 5b-6)
            A. My physical needs are met fully by my Shepherd.
            B. My spiritual needs are met fully by my Shepherd both now
               and or eternity.

My Responsibility:
            I need to stay connected to my Shepherd.
