Passage:  Genesis 2:1-25

Main Point:  I can rest because my identity, purpose and future are in Christ.

I. God’s creation work was complete and perfect. (v.1-3)
            A. God designed my week to contain rest, celebration and worship.
            B. Sabbath reminded Israel that they belonged to God.
            C. I rest in Jesus through his finished work on the cross.

II. The creation story reveals my connection to God. (v.4-17)
            A. Every life is a marvelous gift from God.  (Psalm 139:14-16)
            B. God perfectly provides for his kids.  (Luke 12:22-25, 12:34-36)
            C. We glorify God as we use the abilities and talents he gives.
            D. Obedience brings blessing, disobedience brings judgment.

III. Marriage has a particular design and purpose. (v.18-25)
            A. God prepared Adam for relationship.
            B. Man and woman are designed to be counterparts.
            C. Marriage is God’s picture of our completion in Jesus.
