Pray To Listen (Luke 10:38 – 11:13)

Passage:  Luke 10:38 – 11:13

Main Point:  Persist in prayer to grow in humility, teachability and faith.

I. As I talk to God, I learn to slow down and listen.  (38-42)
            A. Serving God can become something that draws me away from Him.
            B. Ministry contaminated by bitterness is not ministry.
            C. The best way to serve is to be teachable.

II. Jesus teaches me to ask for God’s help. (1-4)
            A. I need to align my will with God’s.
            B. I need to learn Jesus is sufficient for today.
            C. I need to hate sin and love others as I have been loved.

III. Don’t hold back when you pray. (5-10)
            A. God wants His people to pray.
            B. Some fail to receive the answer to prayer because they stop praying.

IV. Our good Father gives only good gifts. (11-13)
            A. The more I believe God is good, the more I want to pray.
            B. All who ask for salvation receive the indwelling Holy Spirit.
