Passage:  1 Timothy 2:1-7

Main Point:  Our highest call is to pray for all and proclaim the Gospel to all.

I. The church’s primary job is to pray. (1-2a)
            A. Prayer is where we delight in God and God in us.
            B. Thanking God brings miraculous peace to my heart. (Philippians 4:6-7)
            C. Paul prayed for Nero, so I can pray for those I voted against.

II. Prayer brings me into harmony with God’s heart. (2b-5)
            A. Pray in a way that is pleasing to the Lord.
            B. The Lord wants all to hear and respond to the truth.
            C. Prayer is part of God’s plan to save lost souls.

III. Our work of prayer relies on the finished work of Jesus. (5-7)
            A. The mediator between God and humans had to be human and God.
            B. Jesus himself was the price that paid for my sin.
            C. God wants His kids to pray for all and proclaim to all.
