Peter — A Lesson in Courage (Matthew 14:22-33; Matthew 26:68-75; Acts)

Main Point:  Fear has been defeated by our resurrected Lord Jesus.

I. We have know times of bravery.  (Matthew 14:22-33)
            A. Peter showed courage by walking on water.
            B. Our moments of courage are encouraging.

II. We have known times of defeat.  (Matthew 26:68-75)
           
A. Peter failed in courage before a servant girl.
            B. Trusting in ourselves offers no strength.

III. The one in the grip of Christ is held for eternity.  (Acts)
            A. Peter was changed by the resurrection of Jesus.
                        1.   Acts 2:14 – Peter boldly speaks to the crowd.
                        2.   Acts 4:19-20 – Peter tells them they will not stop.
                        3.   Acts 10:28-29 – Peter changes his very heritage.
                        4.   Acts 12:6-7 – James was executed. Peter sleeps.
                        5.   Acts 15:6-11 – He boldly stands for the new work.
            B. Our courage is based on the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
