Passage:  1^st John 3:23 – 4:6

Main Point:  We participate in a relationship with God as we listen and respond to His Word.

I. Our mission is to continue in this relationship.  (23-24)
            A. Keep believing in the Jesus revealed in scripture.
            B. Loving for one another is the fruit of faith in God.
            C. Obedience results in God at home in my life.
            D. I know God is my home because His Spirit is working in me.

II. There are two spiritual realms:  God’s and the devil’s.  (1-3)
            A. Verify all teaching in light of God’s Word.
            B. God’s people always affirm Jesus’ full humanity and deity.
            C. Denying the Biblical teaching about Jesus is “anti-Christ”.

III. The secret to all spiritual victory is reliance on God.  (23-24)
            A. The Spirit already applied Christ’s victory to God’s kids.
            B. Believe the written Word about the living Word.
            C. Demonic teachers feed a world hungry to oppose God.
            D. God’s kids want the truth, recognize it and respond to it.
