Passage:  Luke 2:1-11

Main Point: Be intentional about coming to Jesus as we celebrate His birth.

I. The greatest event in history is the coming of the Messiah. (1-3)
            A. The birth of Jesus was expected and looked-for.
            B. Jesus was born in a busy time, busy place with busy people.
            C. Don’t overlook what He is doing in your life today.

II. God wants my heart. (4-7)
            A. Joseph and Mary  accepted God’s plan.
            B. Notice God’s control over world events.
            C. Stop trying to control everything and surrender.

III. Prepare to receive the King. (8-11)
            A. The good news of Jesus is for all people.
            B. To receive the King, I have to stop being king.
            C. A shepherd’s heart is humble and caring.
