Passage:  Mark 13:24-37

Main Idea:  Stay in the Word and be alert because Jesus is coming.

I. Jesus’ return will be unmistakable. (24-27)
            A. Christ’s return is both encouraging and disturbing.
                (cf. Luke 21:28; Revelation 6:12-17)

            B. Welcome Christ’s Kingdom today, by faith.  (Mark 4:13-20)

            C. Tribulation Gentiles will be rejected for joining Antichrist and persecuting Jews.
                   (cf. Joel 3:2; Matthew 25:31-41)
            D. Tribulation Jews will be rejected for rejecting Jesus.  (Ezekiel 20:33-44)

II. Be in the Word to be ready. (28-32)
            A. End times prophecy is meant to be understood.
            B. Israel’s existence proves God’s Word is true.
            C. The rapture will happen suddenly and unexpectedly.
                   (cf. 1 Corinthians 15:51-53; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 1:10; 5:9-11; Revelation 3:9-10)

III. Distraction is the Gospel’s enemy. (33-37)
            A. Jesus’ repeated command is: Watch! Wakeup!
            B. We have different jobs, but all must be alert.
            C. Rejoice, because we know Jesus is coming!
