Passage:  1 Corinthians 5:1-13

Main Point:  The church must stand against contempt for God.

I. Unrepentant sin requires confrontation.   (1-5)
         A. The sin in Corinth was incest.
         B. The attitude in Corinth was arrogance.
         C. The response is to expel.

II. Unrepentant sin corrupts the church.  (6-8)
         A. Like yeast, it will spread.
         B. The believer cleans out the old nature.

III. The church must guard its health.          (9-13)
            A. The church and the world are different.
            B. The church must judge herself.
                        1.  We must avoid legalism.
                        2.  We must avoid license.
                        3.  We must stay in the bounds of Scripture.
