The Certain Solution to Conflict (1 Corinthians 6:1-11)

Passage:  1 Corinthians 6:1-11

Main Point:  As royalty, don’t cling to passing worldly things.

I. Do not lower yourself to small things.  (1-6)
            A. You should not take a believer to court.
            B. You should not forget your coming rule.
            C. You should not bring shame to the church.

II. Do not confuse the present and the future.       (7)
            A. Arguing about worldly things is a defeat.
            B. Give up that which is meaningless in eternity.

III. Do not confuse Christianity with religion.        (8-11)
            A. Religious behavior does not heal the soul.
            B. Unrepentant sin shows unbelief.
                        1.  Some who sin are believers.  (1 Corinthians 5:5)
                        2.  Some who sin are unbelievers.  (1Corinthians 6:9-10)
            C. Salvation is God’s work to deal with sin.
            D. Believers have a new position and new power.
                        1.  New position—under the authority of Christ.
                        2.  New power—indwelt by the Holy Spirit.
