Passage:  Genesis 14; Psalm 110; Heb. 7

Main Point:  Draw near to God through the indestructible life of Jesus Christ.

I. We worship God through a mediator. (Genesis 14:18-24)
            A. Melchizedek refreshed people worn out by battle.
            B. He blessed Abram and then blessed God.
            C. Abram offered a tithe to God through a mediator.

II. Messiah is both King and Priest. (Psalm 110)
            A. Jesus is God the exalted King (v.1-3).
            B. Jesus is the promised Priest (v.4).
            C. Jesus is the Victor (v.5-7).

III. We find renewal and hope in Jesus Christ. (Hebrews 7)
            A. Melchizedek is a picture, or “type,” of Jesus (v7:1-3).
            B. My hope is based on the indestructible life of Christ. (v15-19).
            C. Jesus perfectly fits my need as both Priest and Sacrifice (v26-28).
