Passage:  Romans 5:1-5

Main Point:  Our hope overflows in rejoicing and confidence because of Jesus.

I. Have faith in Jesus who died and rose from the grave.  (v.1-2)
            A. You can enjoy peace with God.
            B. You can have full access to God right now.
            C. You can always be hopeful about the future.

II. Hope steadies the soul in turbulent times.  (v.3-8)
            A. Trials teach us to depend on God’s grace.
            B. Hope is confidence that God will see you through.
            C. Hope waits on the Lord.
            D. The Lord strengthens your hope with the Holy Spirit.
                        1.  He assures you that you are greatly loved.
                        2.  He enables you to love in difficult times.  (cf. 1 John 4:8, 16)
