Passage:  Philippians 2:1-15

Main Point:  No one is perfect but we learn to love by loving the imperfect.

I. Salvation is deliverance from danger.  (v12)
            A. Paul declares salvation is not of works.  (Eph. 2:8,9)
            B. But he exhorts believers to work out their salvation.
            C. Salvation means to rescue from danger, to deliver.
                        1. Saved from starvation.  Acts 27:34
                        2. Save from illness.  Matthew 9:21, Mark 5:23
                        3. Saved from drowning.  Matthew 8:25, 14:30
                        4. Save from judgment.  Acts 2:21, 4:12

II. The church is a place of blessing and growth.  (v1-11)
            A. First consider the blessings.
            B. Then respond with unity.
            C. Unity is built on humility.
            D. Humility is best illustrated by Jesus.

III. Guarding unit takes effort.  (v12-15)
            A. The believers are called to work on unity.
            B. The believers are helped by God.
            C. The believers are to walk in humility.
