Passage: 1 Corinthians 1:10-17

Main Point: The unity of believers is essential in a fallen world.
I. Our unity exalts the Lord Jesus Christ.
A. Scripture exhorts us to unity.
1. We should have unity in our speaking.
2. We should have unity in our acting.
3. We should have unity in our thinking.
B. Jesus prayed for our unity. (John 17:20-23)
II. Our carnal nature, however, is pride.
A. We separate over issues.
B. We select our preferred leaders.
C. We name our new group.
III. Our solution is to honor the cross of Christ.
A. Paul says no thanks to the “Paul group”.
B. The Head of the Church is Jesus.
C. We can practice unity in the face of division.
1. Never run down another congregation.
2. Ask the Lord to bless others.
3. Be a good student of the Bible.
