Passage:  Mark 13

Main Idea:  Get in gear and stay on mission until the coming of Christ.

I. Don’t build a kingdom in this world. (1-4)
            A. I need to take stock of what is filling my eyes.

            B. Be in awe of Jesus who returns as King and Judge.
            C. God reveals the future to equip us and give us hope.

II. Don’t be shaken by events or personalities.  (5-8)
            A. Don’t be deceived by false teachers.
            B. Don’t be overwhelmed by news of war and politics.
            C. God is moving history toward His final goal.

III. God’s purpose for this age is Gospel proclamation.  (9-13)
            A. If one is persecuted for Christ, Christ is persecuted.
                 (cf. Acts 9:4-5; Philippians 3:10)
            B. Suffering is testimony opportunity.
            C. The world continually hates Jesus and the Gospel.
            D. Persevering in faith is the outward sign of salvation.
