Main Point:  Focus on Christ, He is what saves.

I. Focus on and rejoice in the Lord, but also be aware of false teachings. (1-3)
            A. Rejoice in the Lord; it safeguards us. (1)
            B. Be aware of false teachers. (2)
            C. We worship Jesus by the Spirit, boasting in Him, not in the flesh. (3)

II. Living in the flesh is worthless compared to knowing Christ. (4-7)
           
A. Our achievements are less impressive than we think. (4)
            B. Fleshly religiosity looks good to man. (5-6)
            C. Our accomplishments are worth losing for the sake of Christ. (7)

III. Knowing Jesus as Lord is far more valuable than anything else. (8-11)
            A. Knowing Christ far surpasses anything we could ever have or do. (8)
            B. We are saved not by what we do but through faith in Christ and what He’s done. (9)
            C. Desire to know Christ intimately, which will result in growth. (10-11)
