Character Of A Christian – Mentoring (2 Timothy 2:2)

Main Point:  Pour your life into the life of another.

I. The people of Scripture found ways to mentor others.
            A. Moses helped develop Joshua.  (Deuteronomy 34:9; Joshua 1:7)
            B. Saul even helped David.  (1 Samuel 18:2, 12)
            C. Barnabas mentored Paul.  (Acts 11:22-26; 13:2,7,13,46)
            D. Barnabas also mentored John Mark.  (Acts 15:36-40)
            E. Paul mentored Timothy.  (1 Timothy 1:18; 2 Timothy 2:1-2)

II. Mentoring requires something of you.
            A. Love Jesus and others.
            B. Commit to growing.
            C. Be real.
            D. Pray.
            E. Be a friend not a savior.
            F. Commit the time.
            G. Desire their success.

III. Mentoring is not hard to do.
            A. Talk this over with the Lord.
            B. Take someone to coffee.
            C. Ask them some questions.
            D. Do this again.
