Passage:  1 Corinthians 11:2-16

Main Point:  The attitude of the heart must reflect the design of God.

I. God has a design for our relationships.
            A. Every culture has behavioral norms.  (2)
            B. Respect God’s design in relationships.
                        1.  God’s design in the divine order.  (3-6)
                        2.  God’s design in creation.   (7-9)
                        3.  God’s instruction for the angels.   (10)
            C. Subordination does not mean inferiority.  (11-12)
                        1.  The man is not superior to the woman.
                        2.  The man is born of the woman.

II. External conformity reveals internal harmony.  (13-15)
            A. Consider the cultural standards.
            B. Consider the natural standards.
            C. Long and short are relative terms.
            D. We can discern masculinity & femininity.

III. Walk in the spirit of the design.  (16)
            A. Not everyone agrees on the externals.
            B. All must agree on the yielded heart.
           
Conclusion:
                        1.  Fashion has replaced function in hats.
                        2.  Femininity & masculinity are clear.
                        3.  Keep your heart in line with God’s design.
