The Trinity (Deuteronomy 6:4, John 1:14)

Main Point:  There is one God with one plan to redeem many.

I. The tri-unity of God has not been easy to accept.
            A. The Bible does not use the word trinity.
            B. The church took 300 years to accept it.
                        1.  The Bible teaches the unity of God.
                        2.  The Bible teaches the trinity of God.
            C. The doctrine of the trinity led to arguments.
                        1.  The early church believed in one God
                        2.  People formed different views.
                        3.  The church held a council in Nicaea in 325 AD.
                        4.  Arianism is still taught today.

II. The Bible clearly teaches the trinity of God.
            A. God is one.   (Deuteronomy 6:4, 4:35)
            B. But the Bible also teaches the deity of…….
                        1. The Father   (John 6:27)
                        2.  The Son   (John 1:1, 14)
                        3.  The Spirit  (Acts 5:3-4)
            C. We accept the trinity not because we understand it, but because the Bible teaches it.

III. Because Jesus is God, our redemption is complete.
            A. One man could only redeem one man.
            B. But Jesus is the God/man.
            C. His redemption can cover every believer.
