Passage:  Esther 7:1-10

Main Point:  Grace frees us from fear’s grip.

I. Grip grace, not glory.  (7:1-2)
            A. Nothing you have can save you.  (Lk. 9:25)
            B. Worship the God who gives grace.  (Jas. 1:17)

II. All are gripped by sin.  (7:3-4)
            A. Slavery is the Bible’s picture of sin.
            B. Sin kills.  (v4)

III. Sinners should be gripped with fear.  (7:5-8)
            A. Haman is the Bible’s picture of the flesh.  (v5-6)
            B. The flesh is sorry for being caught.  (v7; cf. 2 Cor. 7:10)
            C. Death is eternal, painful separation from God.

IV. Grip Jesus.  (7:9-10)
            A. Jesus hanged on a tree to redeem you.  (Gal. 3:13)
            B. Jesus alive frees you from the flesh.  (Gal. 2:20, 5:24)
            C. Leave your flesh hanging and grip Jesus.  (Gal. 5:16-17, 6:7)
