August 4, 2019
Passage:  Psalm 51
Speaker:  Pastor Bill Knepper
Main Point:  God’s forgiveness is based on God’s commitment.

I. God has committed Himself to us.
            A. He will complete His work in us.  (Philippians 1:6)
            B. He will never leave us.  (Hebrews 13:5)

II. We often sin and deserve condemnation.
            A. David was a man who committed two serious offences.  (2 Samuel 11)
                        1.  Adultery
                        2.  Murder
            B. But we also betray God.

III. We can know that God forgives us on the basis of unconditional love.
            A. David requested and received forgiveness on the basis of God’s unconditional love.
            B. We can also approach God and seek His forgiveness.

IV. God’s forgiveness constitutes full restoration.
            A. David was restored.
            B. We must take God at His Word that He restores us.  (1 John 1:9)
