Come to the Table

Main Point:  God has set the table for us to have fellowship with Him.

I. At the Communion table, I remember and respond. (1 Cor. 11:23-29)
            A. I come looking upward to Jesus who died for my sin.
            B. I come looking inward confessing sin against God and others.  (1 Cor. 10:17, Matt. 5:23-24)
            C. I come looking back at God’s great salvation plan.  (Acts 2:23, 1 Pet. 1:20, Gen. 3:15)
            D. I come looking forward to Christ’s return.

II. Communion reminds us of our identity as Christ’s bride.
           
A. Another table is being set for the Marriage Feast of the Lamb.  (Rev. 19:7-9, John 14:1-3)
            B. The Bride was redeemed by the blood of the Lamb—of Jesus.  (John 1:29, Gen. 22:8)
            C. The Bible is one long table set with the story of God’s love for us.

III. The Bride has not seen him, but trusts and loves Him. (Genesis 24)
            A. Come hungry for Jesus.
            B. Be humble like Jesus.
            C. Honor the Lamb of God.
