Passage:  Mark 9:14-29

Main Point:  Faith in the power of God  is expressed in prayer to God.

I. Failure and perfection distract us from priorities. (14-18)
            A. Always expect Jesus to be present.
            B. Jesus cares for people, not winning arguments.
            C. Bringing people to Jesus is the priority.

II. Faith and persistent prayer fix my mind on Christ. (19-29)
            A. Spiritual failure begins with unbelief in God.
            B. Satan’s hold on one of us touches all of us.
            C. Faith sets no limits on God’s power and submits to His will.
            D. Satan’s power is broken by Jesus’ death and resurrection.
            E. Faith is well expressed in prayer.
