Winning the Battle

Passage: 2 Cor 6:1-18

Main Idea: Believe God and trust Him for the victory.

I. Trust God in the face of difficulty.   v 1-7
            A. Live with integrity as a child of God.
            B. Do not give up because of trials.
                        1. Press on through difficulties: affliction; hardship; distress
                        2. Press on through persecution: beatings, imprisonment, tumults (riots)
                        3. Press on through demands: hard work (labor); sleeplessness; hunger
            C. Maintain a godly character:
                        1. Be wise: purity, knowledge (understanding)
                        2. Be loving: patience, kindness
                        3. Be holy: spirit of holiness, sincere love
                        4. Be godly: word of truth; power of God
                        5. Use God’s weapons: tools of righteousness in the right hand and the left

II. Trust God in the face of little or no progress.   v. 8-10
|           A. Trust God despite the response:
                        1. whether glory or dishonor
                        2. whether evil report or good report
                        3. whether called a deceiver or a true apostle
            B. Trust God despite the opposition:
                        1. unknown to some, well known to others
                        2. dying yet living
                        3. punished but not to death
            C. Trust God despite the results:
                        1. sorrowful at times yet always rejoicing
                        2. poor yet making others rich
                        3. having nothing yet possessing everything

III. Trust God, He will deliver in His time.   v.  11-18
            A. Hear God’s call to yield totally to Him.
                        1. His heart calls you to trust Him.
                        2. Your unbelief is what hinders your joy.
                        3. Turn and look at God—trust Him.
            B. Walk away from that which holds you down.
            C. Choose God, the family of God and the path of God.
