Passage:  Mark 1:1-13

Main Point:  Exalt Jesus who removes sin, restores life and reigns as King.

I. The Gospel is what God in Christ has done. (1)
            A. A Kings arrival was announced by a herald.
            B. Jesus is King over all.
            C. Focus on Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

II. Jesus was foretold and is desperately needed. (2-8)
            A. Give the Lord access to your heart.
            B. Learn to depend on God for everything.
            C. Repentance and confession are powerless without Jesus.

III. Jesus identified with my sin and my death. (9-11)
            A. Sin was placed on the Lamb of God.
            B. God—Father, Son and Spirit—desires your salvation.

IV. Jesus is the suffering Servant and conquering King. (12-13)
            A. Jesus faced my accuser.
            B. Adam lost dominion in the Garden.
            C. All kingdom authority is found in Christ.
