United In Christ (Ephesians 2)

Passage:  Eph. 2:11-18

Main Idea:  We have reconciliation with God and each other in Christ.


I.  Remembering the past makes me thankful and careful. (v.11a)
     
A. The act of remembering is to be ongoing.
     
B. Remember God’s amazing grace.
     
C. Remembering brings me back to a point of decision.

II.  Gentiles are reminded of the wonderful place they have in Christ.
      A. The inward heart-change is what really matters.
      B. We were once lost in sin and without hope.
      C. The bloody death of Jesus can unite Gentiles with God’s family.

III.  In Jesus’ family reconciliation and peace replace enmity.
      A. Jesus removed enmity between Jewish and Gentile believers.
      B. Licentiousness and legalism are replaced by Christ-like-love.
      C. By His death, Jesus puts to death our divisiveness.
      D. The cost of our access to the triune God is humbling.
