The Permanent Promise (Galatians 3:15-29)

Passage:  Galatians 3:15-29

Main Point:  Trust in God’s plan to bring you into His family through Christ.

I. The Old Testament teaches salvation is through Christ. (v.15-20)
            A. God’s promise was onesided: Abraham did nothing but trust.
            B. God’s promise to Abraham was really a deal with Jesus.
            C. Relationship is greater than performance. (v.19-20)
                        1.  The law was meant to be temporary.
                        2.  The law was conditional.

II. Law and grace work together. (v.21-25)
            A. The law reveals my mess, but does not cleanse it. 
            B. The law was to keep me in check until Christ came.
            C. Jesus fulfills every need the Law identifies.

III. Trusting in the promised Messiah results in new life.
            A. We are “sons of God,” becoming more like Jesus.
            B. We now identify ourselves by Christ.
            C. We are included in Abraham’s family and blessing.
