The Helmet of Salvation

Passage: Ephesians 6:17a

Main Idea: The security of salvation produces unshakeable hope and joy.

I. Put on what God generously gives.
            A. Jesus is the only truth.
            B. Jesus is my righteousness.
            C. In Jesus I can have peace with God.
            D. Have confidence in Jesus who is faithful and true.

II. Watch your head!
           
A. Salvation must be received.
            B. I can know that I am saved: assurance of salvation.
                        1.) I can know from the Bible.
                        2.) I have the witness of the Holy Spirit.
                        3.) I have the witness of a changed life.
            C. The product of assurance is hope. (Heb. 6:11-12)

III. Hope is confident expectation.
           
A. Hope defends against discouragement and doubt.
            B. Look back at the Cross and forward to the Return.
            C. Salvation is past, present and future.
                        1.) I was saved from sin’s penalty – (Eph. 2:8).
                        2.) I am saved from sin’s power – (2 Cor. 1:10).
                        3.) I will be saved from sin’s presence (Rom. 5:10).
