Passage:  Ephesians 4:1-6

Big Idea:  God’s family is known by a unity rooted in Christ’s selfless love.

I. Truth demands the appropriate response (1)
            A. In Christ we have unity with God and one another.
            B. Come alongside to correct and encourage.
            C. God is glorified when His love is made visible. (cf. Matt. 5:16)

II. Respond by living out what God has provided. (2-3)
            A. Humility puts Jesus first, others second and self last.
            B. Meekness is not weakness, but emotional self-control.
            C. To be patient is to be like God, slow to anger. (Ex. 34:6)
            D. Showing tolerance is rooted in a lifestyle of forgiveness.
            E. Love is choosing to die-to-self for others.
            F. Unity is not uniformity, but harmony.
            G. Jesus is the peace that holds us together.

III. Unity is based on the core truths revealed in the Bible.
            A. Serve in the body with what the Spirit gives.
            B. Faith in Christ is the only way to be saved.
            C. Our Father provides perfect justice and love.
