Passage:  Philippians 1:1-11

Big Idea:  Be thankful to God for the believers in your life, and pray for their growth as well as yours.

I. Greetings from Paul and Timothy (1-2)
            A. Paul and Timothy are slaves of Christ (1a)
            B. This letter is addressed to the Philippian believers (1b)
            C. Grace and peace come from God the Father and the Son, Jesus Christ (2)

II. Thank God for the relationships you have with believers in your life (3-8)
            A. Be thankful often, consistently, and intentionally (3-5)
            B. Be thankful and confident that God will finish His work of salvation (6)
            C. Be thankful for the right reasons (7)
            D. This thankfulness is fueled by the affection of  Christ (8)

III. Pray for yourself and others that you all would grow in love, to be sincere and without fault until the day of Christ (9-11)
            A. This love is based on knowledge and discernment (9)
            B. Knowledgeable and discerning love helps us to approve what is excellent (10a)
            C. By approving and doing what is excellent, we are sincere and without fault until the day of Christ (10b)
            D. We are truly sincere and without fault because of what Christ has done in us (11)
