Preserving Unity (Philippians 2:1-18)

Main Point:  Work to preserve the unity of the church in a broken world.

I. Our unity begins with humility.  (v 1-4)
            A. This letter was written to the local church.
            B. The church faces opposition from without and within.
            C. Division is Satan’s weapon.

II. We walk in the footsteps of the humble King.  (v 5-11)
           
A. Jesus is our example.
            B. Jesus took our sickness of sin.
            C. We don’t fear because Jesus rules.

III. Pursuing the King’s agenda is our act of worship.  (v 12-18)
            A. There is a difference between salvation and sanctification.
                    (Eph. 2:8-9, Phil. 1:19, Acts 7:25, 27:34, Heb. 11:7, 12:14)
            B. We fight to preserve the unity of the church body.
            C. We rejoice in opportunities to be like Christ.   (v17-18, cf. v7)
