Passage:  1 Kings 19:1-18

Main Point:  God heals despair, teaching me to trust Him in all situations.

I. Elijah despaired because he expected different results.  (v.1-4, 10)
            A. Do not be afraid of what is in front of you
            B. Elijah’s despair resulted in illogical thinking.
            C. Despair results in self-pity and self-loathing.
            D. It results in self-justification and victimhood.

II. God’s grace meets me where I am at.  (v.5-14)
            A. God provides for Elijah’s physical needs first—incarnate.
            B. God guides Elijah’s mental and emotional healing.
            C. Elijah’s spiritual needs are addressed by a gentle teacher.

III. God shifts my focus from “me” to His plan and provision.  (v.15-18)
            A. We have a calling and a mission.
            B. God will accomplish his plan with his people.
            C. We don’t see all that God is doing, we walk by faith.
