Passage:  Nehemiah 2:1-8

Main Point:  Waiting on God in prayer and planning is not time wasted, but faith invested.

I. God prepares me and my circumstances for His purpose. (1-3)
            A. Waiting for God’s timing is important.  (Exodus 14:13; Ruth 3:18; Psalm 46:1)
            B. Private prayer was Nehemiah’s secret weapon.  (Proverbs 21:1)
            C. Prayer prepares me to act when God gives opportunity.

II. I submit my plans to the Lord as I step forward in faith. (4-8)
            A. No prayer is too big or too small for our big God.  (Proverbs 16:9; 2 Chronicles 20:6)
            B. I need to be confident.
            C. I need to be humble.
            D. Walking in faith involves thinking and planning.
            E. I can only succeed under my King’s authority.  (Isaiah 40:30)
