Main Point:  Cultivate a desire for Jesus that responds to His Word.

I. Jesus speaks to those who want His message. (1-9)
            A. A parable makes a comparison to illustrate a truth.
            B. Seek to understand a parable’s main point.
            C. The context of this parable is hardheartedness.

II. Rejecting the message has consequences. (10-12)
            A. The Bible can be confusing, so ask lots of questions.
                 (James 1:4; Matthew 7:7; Proverbs 2:2; Colossians 1:9)
            B. The mystery revealed is the kingship of God in human hearts.
            C. Those who listen are blessed with understanding and heart-change.

III. Jesus explains what I need to understand. (13-20)
            A. Watch out for an unresponsive heart.
            B. Watch out for a fickle, impulsive heart.
            C. Watch out for a distracted, preoccupied heart.
            D. Cultivate a responsive, fruitful heart.
