Passage:  Joshua 1:9-18

Main Point:  Obedience is the activity of faith, motivated by Christ’s love.

I. Obedience does not delay.  (v.10-11)
            A. Good leaders are obedient.
            B. Obedience takes courage.  (Deuteronomy 34:9)

II. Think of obedience as loving others. (v.13-15)
            A. Recount the cost of God’s grace.
            B. Give grace to people who are in pain.
            C. Grace enables unity in God’s family.  (Numbers 32:20-22; Ephesians 2:19-22 & 4:15-16; Galatians 2:2)

III. True obedience begins with faith. (v.16-18)
            A. Expect forgiveness, not perfection.
            B. Take time to converse with God.
            C. Have great expectations in what God can do.
