Depend (Psalm 35:1-28)

Passage:  Psalm 35:1-28

Main Point:  Dependence on God starts with taking my needs to him in prayer.

I. Declare dependence on God for protection. (1-10)
            A. God is both mighty warrior and tender comforter.
            B. We don’t ask for trials, but God allows and uses them.
            C. Personal loss brings me to the Savior of the weak and poor.

II. Prayer contains cycles of emotion, pain and praise. (11-18)
           
A. David and Jesus experienced false accusation and betrayal.
            B. God uses seasons of pain to prepare me for future work.
            C. God uses corporate worship to heal hurt and restore trust.

III. Ask confidently for God to act on your behalf. (19-28)
            A. Desire righteousness.
            B. Want to glorify God.
            C. Understand God wants to make you whole – shalom.
            D. I can be delivered because Jesus was delivered over.  (Romans 8:32)
