Passage:  Matthew 1:18-25

Main Idea:  God’s plan to be with his people is fulfilled in the Messiah, Jesus.

I. There is hope for the brokenhearted. (18-21)
      A. Sin looks like not trusting God.
      B. Love looks like forgiving.
      C. Grace looks like God intervening.
      D. Hope looks like calling Jesus my Savior.

II. It is for God to promise and for me to believe.
      A. Ahaz’s worry led him to trust man instead of God. (Isa. 7)
      B. You have access to the God of the impossible.
      C. To be with God is the definition of salvation. (cf. John 17:3)

III. Cultivate a soft heart of obedience.
      A. Joseph obeyed immediately.
      B. Joseph and Mary are examples of sinners who trusted God.
      C. Adopt Jesus like Joseph.
