Passage:  Matthew 26:57-75

Main Point:  The grace of God stands in stark contrast with the sin of mankind.

I. The heart of man is desperately wicked.  (vv. 57-68; Jeremiah 17:9)
            A. History is full of evil deeds.
            B. The religious leaders lied to stay in power.
            C. They even lowered themselves to cruelty.

II. The heart is wicked among those who see righteousness.  (69-75)
            A. Peter lied about knowing Jesus.
            B. We mature but we are not perfect.

III. The grace of God stands in stark contrast to sin.
            A. Jesus was betrayed by everyone.
            B. The love of God reaches out to everyone.
