Passage:  Mark 9:1-13

Main Point:  Respond to Jesus with understanding, obedience and worship.

I. Jesus invites us to have confidence in Him. (1-2)
            A. See death through the lens of the resurrection.
            B. The transfiguration was a preview of Jesus’ future coming in glory. 
(2 Peter 1:16-19)
            C. God wants to transform believers into the likeness of Jesus.
(Romans 12:2; 2 Corinthians 3:18)

II. Jesus leads a second Exodus. (2-8)
            A. Jesus is the new Lawgiver and Prophet.  (Exodus 24:12-18)
            B. As the Son of God, Jesus is God.
            C. We are commanded to obey Jesus. (cf. Deuteronomy 18:15)

III. Jesus’ glory was revealed in His death and resurrection. (9-13)
            A. The glorious news about Jesus can now be told.
            B. Note the similarities between John the Baptist and Elijah.
            C. Jesus fulfilled all righteousness, and then took my sin.
