Passage:  1Thessalonians 5:1-11

Main Point:  We walk in hopeful anticipation of the Lord’s return.

I. The Lord’s return is called the Day of the Lord. (v.1-2)
            A. It begins with the rapture and ends after the millennium.
            B. It will be a time of blessing and judgment.
            C. It will be a surprise to some, but we are told to be ready.
               (cf. Matthew 24:43-44; Luke 12:39-40)

II. The Lord’s return will be certain, sudden and painful.  (v.3)
            A. The world will have false sense of spiritual and social peace.
            B. Destruction is defined as eternal separation from God”.
            C. Rejecting grace means no chances in eternity”.

III. The Lord’s return is hoped for by His people (v.4-11)
            A. We are called to look for the Day of the Lord.
            B. Want Jesus and spend time with people who want Jesus.
            C. God’s hope for us is that we would hope in Him.
            D. You and I are called to do this together.
