Learning To Listen (Matthew 16:1-23)

Passage:  Matthew 16:1-23

Main Point:  God speaks to our hearts, but we must be willing to hear.

I. Some people simply refuse to believe.  (1-4)
            A. The Pharisees were testing Jesus.
            B. Jesus rebukes them and leaves.

II. Some people are just slow to understand.  (5-12)
           
A. The disciples worry about food.
            B. Jesus warns about unbelief.

III. God is the One who reveals Himself.  (13-20)
            A. Peter’s understanding is God’s work.
            B. Telling others is the believer’s work.

IV. We must listen to God.  (21-23)
            A. Peter immediately forgets to listen in faith.
            B. Only God can help us think His way.
