Passage:  1^st John 2:12-17

Main Point:  I am free from sin and adopted into the forever-family of God.

I. Consider how far I have come in my walk with Jesus.  (12-13)
            A. Encourage each other.
            B. Keep the gospel front and center.
            C. As I know Jesus more, I desire the world less.
            D. I experience victory over temptation, sin and guilt.

II. Stay the course in your walk with Jesus.  (14)
            A. There is no coasting in spiritual growth.
            B. Stay in the Word:  value it, obey it and believe it!

III. Love for God and the world cannot coexist.  (15-17)
            A. The world is Satan’s spiritual system opposed to God.
            B. I am freed from old sin patterns by the blood of Jesus.
            C. He is no fool who loses what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.  – Jim Elliott
