I. Learn lessons from Abraham in God’s school of faith. (1-3)
            A. Saving faith begins with God’s drawing call.
            B. Depend upon God for what you can’t do yourself.
            C. Transformed believers call others to share in the blessing.

II. First steps of faith aren’t always smooth. (11:31-32; 12:4)
            A. Abraham compromised in his obedience.
            B. The patterns of the old life will cause problems in the new.
            C. Tests and trials can be opportunities to grow in the faith.

III. Abraham in the land is a picture of my walk with Christ. (4-9)
            A. Rely on the “teaching” from the Word of God
            B. Prepare for conflict with sin, the flesh and evil.
            C. Return daily to the cleansing power of the cross.
            D. Keep walking. Take the next step of faith. Don’t get comfortable.
