(Read Col 3:20) What are some of the reasons older children disobey parents? Describe the goal of child raising using the graph from church. What is the motivation Paul gives in this verse for a child to obey? How would you explain this to a child?
(Read Col 3:21) What are some ways a parent can discourage a child? What can a parent do to measure possible discouragement before making a decision? Paul doesn’t appeal to the Lord here like in verse 20. What is the motivation?
(Read Col 3:22-4:1) Paul did not attack slavery but instead taught how to live a godly life in the midst of the world’s sins. What ultimately changed slavery? Apply Paul’s solution to our culture today. What is to be our response and attitude to the sins of our own day?
